The businesses we buy usually will have the following characteristics. However from time to time we have purchased businesses that do not fit the following criteria:

  • First and foremost the business has to be owned or operated by a mom.

  • The business will have minimum 1-2 years of operating history and good (verifiable) records.

  • We usually look for businesses that can be relocated and managed without an owner-operator.

  • We usually like to purchase businesses that we believe we can help grow!

  • We prefer to purchase businesses with high gross margins (in other words low cost of goods as a percentage of sales.) However this is not a requirement.

  • Even though it is nice to see some (net) profit, net profit is not required!

 

What types of businesses are we usually not interested in acquiring?

  • We are not interested in buying a franchise of a business!

  • We are not interested in network marketing opportunities!

  • We are not interested in funding an idea!

  • We are not interested in a business that cannot be relocated!

  • We are usually not interested in pure retail businesses!

  • We are not interested in buying a 'job'! In other words, we should be able to operate the business with full or part-time employees who can be located anywhere in US or Canada!

 

What are some of the types of businesses that we are actively seeking at the current time?

Just because your business (type) is not in the following list, it does not mean that we will not be interested in purchasing your business.

  • Advertising Businesses both online and offline.

  • Relocate-able services businesses.

  • We also buy businesses that can strengthen or benefit from our current portfolio companies.

  • Companies with a strong focus on customers and marketing.

  • We usually like to purchase businesses that we believe we can help grow!

 

How do we decide whether to purchase a business?

  1. Is the vendor honest, trustworthy and dependable?

  2. Do we believe we can successfully grow the business?

  3. Do we believe we can successfully continue to manage the business?

 

What is the process we use to buy businesses?

  1. You complete the form below with as much information as possible.

  2. A principal of the firm would follow up with a phone cal within 24- 48 hours (Monday - Friday). At the end of this conversation we will tell you if we would like to proceed further.

  3. Assuming we are interested in proceeding further, we may request additional information such as detailed income expenses, financial statements etc.

  4. Once all our questions are answered, we will work with you on a draft memorandum of understanding with detailed terms of a possible transaction.

  5. Once both parties agree and sign the memorandum of understanding, we will provide you with a refundable deposit conditional on due diligence. The deposit can be anywhere between 500$ to 5% of the value of transaction.

  6. We will complete the due diligence and satisfy ourselves.

  7. Assuming we are satisfied with the due diligence, we would work with you to complete the transaction at the agreed date.

It is important to note that we will pick up the costs for preparing the offer and memorandum of understanding.
